From its launch during COVID-19 remote learning in fall of 2020, the TeachHouse UnConference has grown in its number of attendees and the number of educator districts and communities which it touches. As of April 2022, the event has included participants who self-reported affiliations with the following school districts and programs:

  • Durham Public Schools
  • Durham Area Charter Schools
  • Wake County Public Schools
  • Vance County Public Schools
  • Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools
  • DC Public Schools
  • UNC-Chapel Hill School of Education
  • NCCU School of Education
  • Duke University Program in Education
  • Duke TeachHouse
  • Duke University Alumni
  • Harvard University

For the first three annual events, organizers received a combined 196 initial survey responses indicating interest in attending with a total of 116 actual event attendees. Event attendance continues to grow with over three times as many participants attending the 2022 UnConference as the inaugural event two years prior.

Given the positive participant feedback and growing interest in this event, Duke TeachHouse will continue to seek strategies and opportunities to expand this educator-led virtual brave space.
